This is a list of builders I've used in Reading with my opinion of the work they did.
Hugh Moorcoft
Hugh did a great job for us and is very busy which is always a good sign! He turned up on time and completed all work for the agreed price. Does not currently charge VAT which is another bonus! Work undertaken included:
- Connected underfloor sewage pipes to existing manhole
- Repaired floor joists that had been damaged by wet rot
- Moved a massive brick gate post to widen the driveway. He did a fantastic job on this which literally meant taking it down layer by layer of brick and reassembling it in the new location - complete with very heavy stone capping !

A Dale Builders Ltd
Good quote process etc. but the work done was very patchy in quality (see below). To be honest I'm not sure if I'd recommend them or not as some of the stuff they did was great. But some friends of mine have used them for an extension and were very happy with them so maybe its luck of the draw?
- Repair and Repointing of 6 foot high garden walls - did a nice job of this
- Supply and fit a wooden side-gate. They supplied a softwood gate kit which is in poor state after only a year. Also the wall plate on the house wall is coming loose. To be fair they did come back once to try and solve the problems but this didn't really help and I suspect it will need replacing very soon
